World Sustainable Transport Day

Transport carries many opportunities to exert a less harmful impact on the environment. In our pursuit toward a better world through positive change, Hatch supports sustainable transport and a global market in which consumers are becoming more climate conscious.

November 26 marks World Day of Sustainable Transport, an annual observance adopted by the United Nations to promote sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.

As the world's population growth continues exponentially, millions of people are added to urban environments each year. Communities and cities need to build and rebuild differently, using space more efficiently to enable this growth and make our cities more sustainable and resilient.

Within Hatch, our teams finance, plan, design, deliver and operate sustainable infrastructure all over the world. Among the ways we do this are public transit systems, freight rail connections, roads and bridges links, ports and terminals hubs or urban solutions, and projects that play a pivotal role in addressing climate change, air pollution, traffic congestion, and access to mobility for all.

We must work together toward environmentally friendly modes of transportation in order to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the negative impacts of urbanization for generations to come.

For future generations to survive and thrive, we must focus on creating infrastructure that is equal parts equitable, prosperous, sustainable, and resilient, and anything the transportation sector can do to protect the planet is vital.

Sustainable transport continues to play a pivotal role in addressing several global challenges, including climate change, air pollution, traffic congestion, and access to mobility for all. By shifting towards environmentally friendly modes of transportation, we can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the negative impacts of urbanization.

Recognizing the important role of safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all in supporting sustainable economic growth, improving the social welfare of people, and enhancing international cooperation and trade among countries, the General Assembly decided to declare November 26 World Sustainable Transport Day.
