Transit and mobility can define the experience of a city. In U.S. and Canadian cities, with transit ridership down, shifting citizen behavior, and a fiscal cliff looming in the United States, cities are refocusing their investments to focus more on sustainable, equitable investments.

As cities invest in mobility and transportation, they improve the quality of life for their residents, reduce traffic congestion, and increase economic opportunities. By investing in mobility and transportation, we are not just building infrastructure, we are building better, more connected communities for the future.

Building a future-ready city

In late 2022, Hatch and ThoughtLab completed a ground-breaking study that examines how cities around the world plan to reinvent their urban environments to meet the post-pandemic expectations of citizens and other stakeholders. The study addresses the increasing need for resiliency, sustainability, inclusiveness, and economic development.

Rachel is a Senior Urban Planner in New York City, where she manages planning, economic and real estate advisory projects across the country and beyond. Rachel has contributed to the Port Master Plan 2050 for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and has completed economic impact analyses for mixed-use developments in New York. She is currently managing several Transit-Oriented Development land use planning and real estate development projects. She also developed real estate and portfolio optimization strategies for education and municipal clients, focused on real estate advisory for private developers, as well as advised on the socio-economics of infrastructure planning.
